I’m Taja.
An Independent Author of multiple Black Love Stories. I also spent the last 10 or so years as a Philadelphia Lifestyle Blogger before starting my company Taja Henson Co. I grew up between Maryland & Virginia as an only child and latchkey kid (shout out to the 90’s) I spent a lot of time with myself reading, building my imagination by drawing and writing elaborate stories to share with others. I now call Philadelphia home with her two kids and a tuxedo cat named Pickle.
I’m a fan of Thrillers and Sci-fi in book and television and hope to write one of my own one day. My favorite authors are Terry McMillian and Toni Morrison; however, I love exploring new ones daily. My daughter encourages me to read more, she’s very appreciative. I’m excited to share all my stories that I’ve been keeping to myself with the book world.

Now that the introduction is out of the way let’s get to Coffee, Bud & Antidepressants.
I’m 36, new to “gardening” and am currently trying to find a community of mothers that garden. Gardening has become a therapeutic escape for many, especially for parents like me who juggle the responsibilities of raising teenagers while managing mental health challenges. The act of gardening offers a unique blend of physical activity and mindfulness that can be incredibly soothing.
The most common reason for parents to use cannabis is to help them relax and cope with the stresses of parenting. In my case, it calms my mind and alleviates anxiety, serving as a crucial support in my life. While it’s not primarily for my kids, who are teenagers and surprisingly supportive of my choices, I find it helps me maintain a balanced perspective. Balancing the demands of parenting with my experiences as a diagnosed Bipolar Mom occasionally feels overwhelming, and my antidepressants play a part in that delicate balance.
In the mornings, one of my favorite rituals involves making a good cup of coffee or ordering my favorite brew, then getting back into bed. It’s that simple act of comfort that sets the tone for my day. Once settled, I take the time to roll a blunt, allowing myself to ease into a state of relaxation while I scroll through Pinterest. The platform is an excellent source of inspiration and creativity; I often find myself saving countless ideas for gardening, home decor, and various projects that spark my interest.
With the theme of my journey in mind, I plan to create a space called “Coffee, Bud & Antidepressants,” which will feature all the amazing discoveries and thoughts I come across. It will serve as a hub for sharing tips, advice, and resources for others like me who navigate the complexities of life, parenting, and personal passions. This project will not only be an outlet for my creativity but also a potential way to connect with other mothers who share similar interests.
By cultivating not just my garden but also a supportive community, I hope to foster a sense of belonging and understanding among those who experience the ups and downs of parenthood together. I believe that by sharing these experiences and ideas, we can all grow and thrive as individuals and as a community of nurturing mothers.

I hope you enjoy the ride with me.
